Viola (Schelske) Schulz, 93 July 29, 1913 - November 9, 2006 Funeral services for Viola Lora Schulz were held Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church, Parkston, with the Rev. Constanze Hagmaier officiating. Music was furnished by the Salem Lutheran Quartet, and Marlene Wuertzer, organist. Interment was made in the Parkston Protestant Cemetery with Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Dale Stoebner, Gary Stoebner, Kevin Elsing, Greg Stratman, Mark Stoebner, and Noel Schulz. Viola Lora Schulz was born July 29, 1913, to Augest and Elizabeth (Schnabel) Schelske on the family farm 13 miles east of Parkston. She was baptized into the Christian faith on August 13, 1913, at the Wittenberg Lutheran Church by Pastor Goeken and confirmed on July 3, 1927, at the Lutheran Church in Menno. She attended country school through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Ewald Schulz on October 18, 1931, at the Kulm Lutheran Church. Together they farmed eight miles southeast of Parkston until 1946 when they purchased her family farm. After Ewald?s death on June 22, 1980, she moved into Parkston. She was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church, serving on the Altar Guild as well as being an active member of WELCA and the ladies sewing group. She died Thursday, Nov. 9, at Avera St. Benedict Hospital, Parkston, at the age of 93 years. She is survived by three children, Donald Schulz and wife, Vernetta, Parkston, Elverna Stoebner and husband, Aaron, Tripp, and Leon Schulz and wife, Carolyn, Menno; eight grandchildren, Dale Stoebner and wife, Jill, Sioux Falls, Lori Kollmann, Howard, Dawn Stratman and husband, Greg, Owasso, Okla., Gary Stoebner and wife, Robin, Tripp, Mark Stoebner, Tripp, Sharon Elsing and husband, Kevin, Sioux Falls, Noel Schulz and wife, Jennifer, Dakota Dunes, and Brenda Schulz, Sioux Falls; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Adina Stoebner, Tripp. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Dale; a daughter in infancy; great-grandson, Brock Stratman; grandson-in-law, Tony Kollmann; granddaughter-in-law, Julie Stoebner; and a sister in infancy.
