On March 2, 2012 God took his dear servant Scott N. Babcock of Spearfish back to be by his side.
He was born March 28, 1915 at Ft. Pierre, South Dakota. He lived on the Brute Reservation where his father was in the Indian service and his mother was a teacher. He later lived on his family ranch.
As a young man he moved to California with his parents and was employed for many years in aircraft factories. He also was an instructor for a vocational school. In 1977, he moved back to South Dakota and in February 1978 married the love of his life, Irma LaRoche. Before finally settling into retirement he taught an Industrial Arts class at Stevens High School for three years.
He was a member of St. Therese Church of Rapid City and the Knights of Columbus #8025.
He was preceded in death by his son Gary Babcock and wife Irma Babcock.
Scott's survivors include daughter Bonnie Schindler, son-in-law Steve Schindler,grandchildren Carrie Smedley, Eric Schindler and Kenny Schindler and eight great-grandchildren of San Diego, California. His stepdaughter Evonne Welsh of Spearfish and sister-in-laws Gertrude Babcock of Spearfish and Marjorie Babcock of Hermiston, Oregon
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Zandri presiding.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City
