Ruth Elsie "Toots" Brosz Permann Birth: Nov. 6, 1929 Tripp Hutchinson County South Dakota, USA Death: Jan. 3, 2014 Parkston Hutchinson County South Dakota, USA Ruth Elsie "Toots" or "Tootie" (Brosz) Permann was born on Wednesday, November 6, 1929 to Ferdinand and Lydia (Bietz) Brosz on a farm northeast of Tripp, South Dakota. She was baptized on November 28, 1929 at her parent's home by Rev. John Meer. Ruth attended school at Sharon District #10 through the 8th grade. She then worked at various homes helping other families. Ruth was confirmed at Hoffnungstal Congregational Church, Scotland, on June 11, 1944. On April 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Harold Permann of Delmont in Pilgrim Congregational Church at Tripp. Eight years later, they moved to a farm northeast of Wagner. They lived there until moving to Tripp in 1999. For many years, she worked in the housekeeping department at the Good Samaritan Center in Wagner. Ruth will be remembered for her enjoyment of baking, especially kuchen. She enjoyed gardening and canning through the years and will be remembered for her spicy dill pickles. She also enjoyed embroidery and quilting and made many quilts in her lifetime, one for every grandchild. While living on the farm, Ruth and Harold had several pugs as pets and she had many collectible pugs. She loved her pugs. Ruth was a member of Bethany Reformed Church until moving to Tripp. She then became a member of Frieden's Reformed Church until her death on January 3, 2014. Ruth died at Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston at the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 29 days. Survivors include seven children: Steven (Joyce) Permann of Tripp, Karen (Casey) Carda of Armour, Mary (Doug) Gunnare of Delmont, Dennis (Colleen) Permann of Pickstown, Joel (Darcy) Permann of Delmont, Cheryl (Russ) Tesch of Estelline, and Nancy (Jeff) Tichy of Chamberlain; eleven grandchildren: Desireé and Matt (Ashley) Gunnare, Ryan and Sarah Permann, Dana, Alex (Megan) and Mason Permann, Tessa and Tanner Carda, Kennedy Tesch, Hadley Tichy; three step-grandchildren: Nick (Kandace), Corey and Pat Fjerstad; and one great-grandchild: Charlee Gunnare. She is also survived by her sister, Regina Bueber of Tripp; two sisters-in-law: Elva Brosz of Tripp and Velda Peters of Wagner; and many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Permann, in August of 2006; her parents, Ferdinand and Lydia Brosz; and eight brothers: Arthur, Edgar, Milton, Jonathan, Maynard in infancy, Loren, Curtis, and Ray.
