Roscoe L. Spotts, age 85, of Macon, Missouri, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Macon Health Care Center in Macon. He was born the son of Roscoe and Anna(Lynch)Spotts on March 23, 1919 in Carrollton, Missouri. He graduated from the Carrollton Community Schools in Carrollton and later from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a degree in Animal Husbandry.
On November 18, 1953, Roscoe was united in marriage to Georgia Alice Duley in Beatrice, Nebraska. He served his country during WWll with the US Navy from October 15, 1940 until his honorable discharge on November 13, 1946. Roscoe spent most of his life working at the Swift Company in Davenport, Iowa on their Turkey Farms. He also enjoyed working as a Carpenter. He was a member of the VFW in Davenport, Iowa and a member of the First Christian Church in Davenport.
Roscoe is survived by his: Step-son, Duane Bolwar and his wife, Lori of Taylor Ridge, Illinois and sister, Dorothy Norman of Macon, Missouri; Step grandchildren, Brad, Andy and Pam Bolwar all of Phoenix, Arizona; 5 step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Georgia Spotts on September 27, 1983; step-son, Omer Baker; sisters, Helen Rhodes and Anita Carriker.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 11am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa, with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial with full military honors by the American Legion in Moulton, Iowa will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from 9am until the time of services at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton with the family present. Memorials can be made in his name to the donor's choice.
