Roman Schumacher, age 86, of Malaga, Ohio passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Monroe County, Ohio on August 21, 1929, a son of the late William & Mary Alig Schumacher.
Roman was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church and a member of St. Joseph of Monroe County Knights of Columbus Council 5009. He had been Chairman of St. Sylvester Sunday Night Bingo for 12 years. Roman was an avid farmer and gardener.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Biedenbach Schumacher, an infant daughter Joyce Schumacher, daughter Susan Thomas, son Rick Schumacher, brothers Walter, Fr. Henry, and Herman Schumacher, and sisters Rosemary Schumacher, Elizabeth Bender, and Carolyn Lowery.
He is survived by two sons; Anthony (Cindy) Schumacher of Malaga and Terry Schumacher of Barnesville, daughters; Rosie (Ron) Shinoskie of Groveport and Missy (Mike) Knowlton of Woodsfield, grandchildren; Josh Schumacher of Malaga, Eric (Dani) Schumacher of Dover, Marissa (Chad) Cole of Woodsfield, Meagan Schumacher of Malaga, Ben, Emilee, and Veronica Shinoskie of Groveport, Trent Schumacher of St. Clairsville, Karly (George) Davis of Freedom, Pennsylvania, Kirby Schumacher of Lewisville, Jennifer (Geoff) Dickinson of Seattle, Washington, Adrienne (Scott) Mosier of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kerri Jo Thomas of Beallsville, Michele (Franklin) Holley of Dublin, Leann (Jason) McFrederick of Jerusalem, Ashley (Ryan) Brown of Bethesda, Karin (Tony) Springer of Baltimore, Ohio, Kylie (Alexis) Knowlton of Bridgeport, and Tyler (Beth) Knowlton of Lewisville, great grandchildren; Wesley, Lizbyn, and Joby Cole, Brevyn Schumacher, Colt Davis, Alex Dickinson, Clara, Gabriel, and Rebecca Mosier, Brylee, Allie, and Emma McFrederick, Blake and Colby Brown, Trey Holley, and Kinsley Knowlton, brother; Martin Schumacher of Barnesville, sister; Magdeline Edwards of Phoenix, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends received from 2 – 5 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday May 19, 2016 at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio with Vigil service at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11a.m. Friday May 20, 2016 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery.
