Olga E. Hollis, 83, Topeka, completed life's journey on Tuesday, April 27, 2004,
She began her adventure Dec. 1, 1920, in Braddock, Pa., just outside Pittsburgh. She became a nurse and then traveled the country and the world as an Air Force officer's wife. She and her husband, Raymond, settled in Topeka following Ray's retirement from the Air Force.
Mrs. Hollis became active in various community projects. She loved her home and enjoyed her hobbies: painting, gardening and writing. In her words, "When the day will come to bid you adieu, you'll hear me say farewell or toodle-oo I wish you all's well, good luck, and good health, too."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond.
Survivors include her children, Larry, Peggy and Ken. She was blessed with eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Hollis will lie in state at the funeral home after noon today.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospices or to the charity of the donor's choice.
