Morgan C. Geibel, 91, of East Butler died Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
Born May 14, 1915, in Summit Township, he was a son of Eugene M. and Annie M. Reott Geibel.
He was retired from the Castle Rubber Co. in East Butler after 20 years, and prior to that had worked at the Fritz Moon Tube Co. for more than 20 years.
Mr. Geibel was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the East Butler Firemen's Club, and he had enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and had pitched horseshoes in several area leagues.
A veteran of World War II, he had served with the U.S. Army Field Artillery at Normandy and throughout Central Europe.
He is survived by a son, Randy C. Geibel and his wife, Susan, of Butler; two grandchildren, Mindy and Nathan Geibel, both of Butler; six sisters, Bernetta Oesterling, of Cabot, Mrs. Arthur (Rita) Osche and Rosemary Smith, both of Herman, Mrs. Robert (Luella) Armahizer, of Great Belt, Mrs. Donald (Lucille) Riebold, of Glendora, Calf., and Arlene Cubbage of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred L. Zimmerman Geibel, whom he married in August 1951, and she died on Oct. 26, 2006. He was also preceded by one brother, Alfred H. Geibel, and one, sister, Anna May Liebler.
Geibel - Friends of Morgan C. Geibel, who died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. Pierre Falkenhan, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the Rosary.
