Meta Ibis Location: SIoux Falls, SD Funeral Home: MILLER FUNERAL-OBITS-SF SIoux Falls - Meta Ibis, 85, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Southridge Health Care Center in Sioux Falls. Meta Aman was born June 4, 1924 at Freeman, SD. She grew up near Freeman where she received her education, graduating from Freeman High School in 1942. Following high school, she furthered her education at Springfield Teacher's College. On January 6, 1946, she was united in marriage with Elmer Ibis in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Sioux Falls. Meta was employed as a teacher's aide with the Sioux Falls Public School System from 1968 until her retirement in 1982. Her husband preceded her in death on October 18, 1971. Meta continued to live in Sioux Falls until the time of her death. As an active member of St. John American Lutheran Church, Meta volunteered many hours for the church. She also was a member of the Center for Active Generations. Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Dale (Ruth) Ibis of Homewood, IL, Rodney (Judy) Ibis of Eden Prairie, MN, and Mark (Kriss) Ibis of Sioux Falls, SD; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and one sister, Viona Schnabel of Freeman, SD. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Thursday at St. John American Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
