Louis V. Silliman, Sr., formerly of Freeport
Louis V. Silliman, Sr., 69, of New Bethlehem, formerly of Freeport, died at 12:26 p.m. Saturday (April 19, 2003) in Armstrond County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin.
He was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Brackenridge.
An Army veteran, he was a sergeant during the Korean War, serving from 1953 to 1956.
Mr. Silliman worked at Allegheny Ludlum, Brackenridge Works, for 44 years before retiring in 1995.
He enjoyed collecting coins and arrowheads, fishing and farming.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Constance O'Donnell Silliman; two sons, Louis V. (Laurie) Silliman, Jr. of Freeport and Lawrence V. Silliman of New Bethlehem; a daughter, Kathy Basar of Freeport; and two sisters.
Also surviving are two granddaughters, Samantha Silliman and Emity Peiffer, both of Freeport.
He was preced in death by his parents, Lawrence V. and Hilda Morgan Silliman; and two brothers, and a sister.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in REDMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 524 High St., Freeport, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. James F. Neal, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport, will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made Orphans of the Storm Inc., Armstrong County Animal Shelter, Rural Route 8, Kittanning, PA 16201.
