Lorron James Herr, 85, Wishek, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, in Wishek Retirement Apartments.
Mr. Herr was born July 11, 1921, near Wishek, where he grew up and attended school. He served in the Civilian Conservations Corps in 1939. He worked various jobs in North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He then joined the North Dakota National Guard. On May 7, 1946, he married Magdalena Just in Wishek. They owned and operated Maggie's Café, Wishek. He served in the U.S. Navy again from 1950 to 1954. In 1983, they sold the café.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Arlen, Wishek, James (Mary Lou), Milaca, Minn., Keith, Elk River, Minn.; three brothers, Allen, Gordon, both Lodi, Calif., Joe, Yakima, Wash.; a sister, Georgina Meinke, Billings, Mont.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Saturday from 9 to 8 in Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek.
Funeral: Sunday at 1:30 in St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek.
Burial: St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek.
