MENDOTA - Lorraine Gertrude Lathrope Bulfer, 90, of 1001 Washington St., Mendota, died at 5:15 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, at her home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Peru, to James and Gertrude (Burkhart) Lathrope. She married John Lester "Pat" Bulfer on Oct. 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 2012. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2011. Mrs. Bulfer spent her childhood living in Peru, after which she moved to Mendota. She was a devout Catholic, and served as president of the Altar and Rosary Society for St. Patrick and St. Mary Churches and held office in the Maytown School Parent-Teacher Association.
Survivors include her children: Nancy Bickett, Margie Donovan, Janice Connolly, Joyce MacDonald, John Bulfer and Tom Bulfer; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Copenhaver.
She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Lnda Doran; four grandchildren; and one brother, Jerry Sondgeroth.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Wednesday at St. Patrick Church in Maytown, with the Rev. Max Lasrado officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery adjacent to the church.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kent Bickett, Ward Donnovan, Eric MacDonald, Craig Doran, James and Matt Bulfer.
Memorials can be directed to St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society in Maytown or St. Patrick's Cemetery Maintenance Fund in Maytown.
