oerth Weil Schwartzmiller, 83, of Clarksburg, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, in his residence. He was born April 30, 1927, in North Braddock, to the late John and Selma (Koerth) Schwartzmiller. He lived in Clarksburg for the last 37 years, and prior to that he lived in Monroeville. Koerth worked at U.S. Steel's Duquesne Works for a few years, then became a policeman for the former Patton Township Police Department, now the Monroeville Police Department. He served there for 20 years as a sergeant on the third shift. He also had attended police training classes such as Sober Meter school, Advanced Police Training, Technical training, Hershey State Police Academy, courses in fingerprinting, hunting safety, criminal law, firearms, and tear gas. He worked as security director for Thorofare Markets Inc. located in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky for 13 years and from where he retired in 1980. Koerth also was the owner and operator of the Specialty Black Powder Gun Shop in Clarksburg for several years and drove school bus for Smith Bus Co. in Derry. He was a World War II Army veteran. At age 17, he enlisted in the Army and joined Patton's Third Army, 17th Cavalry Regiment. He was a private first class radio operator and first gunner in the European Theater. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, John Jr. and LeRoy Schwartzmiller. Koerth is survived by his wife of 58 years, Honey E. (McCool) Schwartzmiller, of Clarksburg; daughter, Darlene Honey (Gary) Jones, of Medina, Ohio; two sons, Greg Koerth Weil (Mary) Schwartzmiller, of Bedford, Ky., and Kim John (Carol) Schwartzmiller, of Clarksburg; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Busch, of Plum, and Lorraine Schwartzmiller, of Monroeville. At Koerth's request, there will be no viewing. Services have been entrusted to the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg.
