A heart attack took the life of a 53-year-old Dell Rapids woman Thursday noon last week. Mrs. Ed Heimbuck was stricken as she was about to leave her home to teach a release time class at the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Monday in the Methodist Church with eh Rev. Orland Sloat officiating. Pallbearers were James Westerman, John Larson, Henry Bokker, Harold Williamson, Harvey Pederson and Walter Crisp. Interment took place in the Dell Rapids cemetery. Mrs. John Edenburn and Mrs. Les Nelson were vocalists and Mrs. Robert Waagmeester was at the organ.
Kathryn Elsie Walter was born in Altamont, S.D., August 15, 1914. She married Ed Heimbuck on January 2, 1937 and they lived in Altamont before moving to Dell Rapids when their children were small. She was very active in community affairs and in her church and assisted her husband in his business. She was a member of the Carolyn Rebekah Lodge, Past Noble Grans Association; president of the Dell Rapids Garden Club and a leader in the newly organized Brownie Scouts.
She is survived by her widower and four children, Ivan, presently serving in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam; Mrs. David (Rosemary) Frerk, Renton, Wash.; Mrs. James (Carolyn) Bailey, Dell Rapids and Ellen Jean, at home; five grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Ed Meyer, Mrs. Raymond Parker and Mrs. Wheeler Parker, Clear Lake; Mrs. Harold Kenyon, Gary; Mrs. Rudy Baer and Mrs. Barney Reis, Canby, Minn.; three brothers, William Walter, Watertown; Lawrence of Altamont and Ted of Rantoul, Ill., and her mother Mrs. Rose Walter of Clear Lake.
