Joseph Boeshans and his wife died within 24 hours of each other. A joint funeral was conducted for the couple at the Bethesda Lutheran Church of rural Leith
Joseph was born in South Russia on July 25, 1893, a son of Urus and Jacobina Schneider Boeshans. He came to America in 1910 and settled north of Beulah. He entered the armed forces in 1917, served during World War I and was discharged in April 1920.
Joseph married April 16, 1920, at Little Rock, Arkansas, to Marie Krug who was born in Germany on November 13, 1896, a daughter of William and Eva Buron Krug. She came to America with her family in 1903 and was working at Little Rock.
The couple farmed in Mercer County until 1946 then moved to a farm south of Leith where they remained until their death.
They had four sons: Oscar, William, Robert, Emil, and three daughters, Helen (Eugene) Keller, Irma (Izan) Keller and Ruth (Jim) Sellner.
