Dr. Jonathan Jay Fyock of Owego Jonathan J. Fayock, 75, of Owego, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at his home in South Owego. Dr. Fyock is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Lisanne; son and daughter-in-law, Joel D. and Esther Fyock, Cloudcroft, NM; daughter and son-in-law, Marcy E. and Richard Cheeseman, Apalachin; four grandchildren, Wyatt, Lydia, Dominick, Alexis; brother and sister-in-law, David and Kim Fyock, Evans City, PA; several nieces and nephews. Dr. Fyock was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, graduated from Penn State University in 1962 and received a Master of Education degree from Cornell University in 1973. He taught science and health in the Owego Apalachin School District for twenty-six years and after his retirement enrolled in a Doctoral program at Cornell University. Dr. Fyock was awarded his PhD in 1994 and began a second career as Director of Distance Learning Education at the College of the Marianna's in Saipan. Following his return to the United States, he started his business, The Photo Doctor, which fulfilled his lifelong love of photography. He traveled the world throughout his life and shared his experiences through his photos and commentaries. He also had a long time love of woodworking, skiing, backpacking, hunting the "Serengeti," his beloved farm. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
