Bio: Obituary: Greenburg Daily News, dated Monday, October 5, 1992Jerome A. "Jerry" Barr, Noblesville, IN., died Sunday Oct. 4, 1992 in Riverview Hospital, Noblesville, IN.He was born Feb. 16, 1925 in Bridgeville, PA., the son of Martin and Beatrice Becokvitch Barr. He was an alumnus of Purdue University. He had lived in Hamilton County the past eight years.He was a member of the Our Lady of Grace Church, Noblesville. He served in the submarine corp of the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was executive vice president of the Indianapolis Jaycees in 1955, and was instrumental in planning and executing the first 500 parade and the first Mechanics Banquet.He was co-founder of the New Castle Little League Football in 1967 and president of the New Castle Mall in 1974, was co-citizen of the Year for the New Castle Chamber of Commerce in 1974 and received a national commendation for the New Castle Mall project from Mrs. Richard Nixon in 1974. He participated in the Purdue University Dad's Day for 13 years.He was the Southern Division Manager PSI, Greenburg, where he resided from 1976-84, and Northern Division Manager PSI, Noblesville, from 1984-89. In 1990 he founded the Technical Testing Services, Inc. in Noblesville, IN.On Feb 26, 1949, he married Margaret "Peggy" Velten, and she survives, with two daughters, Victoria L. Willis, Spiceland, IN., and Lisa M. Barr, Noblesville, IN.; five sons, Michael J. Barr, Dallas, TX, Phillip M. Barr, Ann Arbor, MI., Christopher V. and Thomas H. Barr, both of Albuquerque, N.M., and James W. Barr, Mesquite, TX; six sisters, Cecillia Barr, and Joanne Barzanty, both of Bridgeville, PA., Patricia Barr and Beatrice Dalissandro, and Mary Lou Lineman, all of Pittsburgh, PA., Constance Tague, Venetia, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.The Rev. James R. Bates will officiate services at 10 am Wednesday at the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Noblesville, IN.Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers, IN.Visitation will be at the Randall & Roberts Logan Street Chapel in Noblesville, IN., from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday. There will be a rosary service at 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Jerry Barr to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, c/o Our Lady of Grace, Noblesville.
