Jay Oscar Yost
BELCAMP, Md. - Jay Oscar Yost, 57, of Belcamp, Md., died Wednesday (March 9, 2005) at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Md.
He was born Feb. 23, 1948, in Marietta, Ohio, to James Oscar and Mary Gribble Yost. He was a 1966 graduate of Warren High School. Master Sgt. Yost retired from the U.S. Army, having served four years as Medical NCO and 21 years in club management. As a youth, he enjoyed working with his father at the general store in Barlow, Ohio. He participated in Boy Scouts, 4-H, Junior Fire Department and the Barlow Presbyterian Church. After his retirement from the military, Jay joined MetLife in White Marsh, Md., and was a Certified Life Underwriter and has served clients in Hartford County, Md., for 12 years. He was past president of the Hartford-Cecil County Certified Life Underwriters Association and a member of the Hartford County Republican Party. Jay loved his country and family and had received the Lord into his life. He enjoyed cooking, hiking, camping and traveling with friends and family.
He is survived by his mother of Barlow; his wife, Marilou Jamieson Chaney Yost of Belcamp, Md.; a son, Carl Yost (Sheri) of Marysville, Ohio, and a daughter, Carla Yost (friend, Ken Ruggles) of Westerville, Ohio, and their mother, Rosalee Carl; grandsons, Jacob and Zane; stepdaughter, Aimee Sann (Clayton) and their daughter, Emily; stepson, Kenneth C. Miller (Michelle) and their sons, Kenneth and Timothy; five brothers, Bill Yost (Kathy) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Don Yost (Darlene), C. Jean Yost (Mary), Le Yost (Linda), and Linn Yost (Betty), all of the Barlow area; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Jean and Alma Gribble and Charles and Freda Bode Yost.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday (March 12, 2005) at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Shotwell officiating. Burial will be in Barlow Central Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
