  [S927] Obituary. Obituary Irene Myrtle LeAnna Koster, 86, died at home due to complications from a stroke August 24th, 2013, with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter by her side. Irene's ashes will be laid to rest in October at the Fairview Cemetery, Raymond, Minnesota. Irene was born September 6, 1926 in Willmar, Minnesota, to Adolph and Bertha (Martins) Ziehl. Irene grew up in Minnesota attending public school in Raymond. She married Marlowe Koster in 1944. They lived and farmed in the Raymond area for 25 years. Irene was a busy farmer's wife and mother. They had four children: Kenneth, Eunice, Patricia and Gail. Irene attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond, MN, where she was baptized and confirmed. After retiring from farming, the couple moved to Willmar, MN. Irene began working in food service at the Willmar State Hospital. After 20 years, Irene retired from the State Hospital. Irene loved sewing, gardening, traveling, cooking and baking lots of cookies. In May of 2002, Irene moved to Anchorage. Her daughter, Pat stated, "After Dad passed away, we invited her to live with us. At 75, she packed up and moved to Alaska. I was proud of her to move and leave family and friends in Minnesota." After becoming an Alaska resident, she visited NY, NJ, WA, OR, and HI; her favorite trip was the nine days spent in Honolulu; taking in scenery, flowers, greenery, beaches and all that makes Hawaii such a beautiful place. Irene is survived by her son, Kenneth (Carol) Koster, St. Paul, MN; daughters, Eunice (Jerry) Clouse, Forest City, IA; Patricia (Michael) Wann, Anchorage, AK; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Adeline Niemeyer; brothers, Merlin Ziehl and Ervin Ziehl; and daughter, Gail Bruns.
