Both of her parents preceded her in death in 1956, 4 months apart. She attended both Menno and Freeman High Schools and Freeman College. On May 1, 1943 she married Elmer Edgar Kirschenman. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2000. They farmed in South Dakota, then in 1954 moved to Bakersfield, CA. Their first daughter, Joyce Ann (Ron) Hazelwood was born in 1945. Their second daughter, Diane Kay Roberts was born in 1948. Their third daughter, Debra Lou (Michael) George was born in 1960. Diane preceded her in death in 2007. She had 4 grandchildren, Danette Brown, Darren Brown (Jennifer), Stephen George (Liz) and Valerie Francois (Henry). She has 10 great grandchildren, Cole, Kyle, Kayla Brown, Brooke Blake, Jacob, Samantha and Brandon Brown, Ashley and Matthew George, Ethan Francois. Irene taught school in little country schools in S.D. for 4 years. After moving to California she ran their public truck scales. Then sold Avon for a number of years. Irene was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, on August 9, 1946 at Cleveland Ohio in the river. She taught many people the truths about God's word. Jehovah and her family always came first in her life. Everyone that knew her loved her. She had many friends. The family appreciates all her many caregivers over the last few years. Services will be held on February 26, 2:00 p.m., Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5501 E.
