  [S927] Obituary. Herda (Berg) Schauer Schmidt, 93, Bismarck, died July 31, 2007, at a Bismarck Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and continue one hour prior to services at the church. Herda was born on January 7, 1914, the daughter of Sam and Louisa (Hoffman) Berg in Wilton, ND. She was raised and educated in Wilton. In 1934, Herda married Eddie Adam Schauer, they moved to a farm in McKenzie. In 1939 they moved to a farm south of Sterling. Eddie passed away in 1962. Herda married Leo E. Schmidt on October 29, 1965; they made their home in Bismarck. Herda enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, dancing, and traveling. Her joy in life was her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Herda is survived by her husband, Leo of Bismarck, ND; her daughter, Vonne (William) Kleven of Alexandria, VA; her son, Verdun (Jacque) Schauer of Sterling, ND; six grandchildren, Kory (David) Hagler of Bismarck, ND, Randall Adam Schauer of Lincoln, ND, Lora (Phil) Casey of Little Compton, RI, Dawn (Ron) Aberle of Menoken, ND, Kristie (Jerry) Anderson of Bismarck, ND, and John Kleven of Haymarket, VA; eight great-grandchildren, Adam, Marie, Gabriel and Brooke Aberle, Lexi and Kyle Hagler, and Tanner and Josephine Anderson; two step-sons, Harvey Schmidt of Dickinson, ND, and James Schmidt of Bismarck, ND; two step-daughters, Debra Schmidt of Bismarck, ND, and Renea (Robert) Dalbol of Jamestown, ND; and two step-grandchildren, Alicia Schmidt and Andrew Dalbol. Herda was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Eddie; her son, Dennis Schauer; three brothers; and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck.
