Herbert Neuharth, 88, McClusky, ND died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at his home in McClusky. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 10 at the McClusky Baptist Church, McClusky, ND.
Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Herbert Harley Neuharth was born on April 2, 1926 on a farm near McClusky, ND. He was the son of Albert and Marie (Bender) Neuharth. He grew up in McClusky and graduated from the McClusky High School. He entered the US Navy on April 7, 1944 and served aboard the USS Cumberland, USS Hamlin and USS Pine Island. He was honorably discharged on July 3, 1946 and returned to McClusky. Herb worked as a mason, concrete laborer, monument setter and as a licensed plumber. He owned and operated Herb Neuharth Plumbing Company in McClusky for many years.
Herb was the catcher on the McClusky state baseball championship team in 1948. He played amateur baseball for a number of years for the McClusky and Denhoff teams.
Herb was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in McClusky.
Herb is survived by sisters, Edna Neuharth of McClusky, Evelyn Peter of Valley City, Marian Branson of Las Animas, CO, Tee Holcomb of Great Falls, MT; brothers, Robert Neuharth of Minot, Alvin Neuharth of Bismarck; numerous nieces and nephews.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer “Bud” Neuharth, Emil Neuharth and Edwin Neuharth; sisters, Clara Feickert, Gladys Neuharth and Helen Wahl.
