Glenn Elting
Glenn Ernst Elting, 84 ,the son of Henry and Frieda (Lueders) Elting, was born Nov. 9, 1924, at the family farm near Carleton, Neb. He died at Park View Haven, Deshler, last Wednesday.
Glenn was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church at Friedensau. He attended first through eighth grades at North Friedensau School. He graduated in 1942 from Carleton High School.
Glenn joined the U.S. Navy and served his country from Sept. 1, 1944 to April 2, 1946. After his discharge, he farmed with his dad and brothers near Carleton.
On April 9, 1950, he was united in marriage to Esther Duensing at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Byron. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau. In 1951, they joined St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Davenport. Following their marriage they moved to a farm north of Oak. To this union were born four children. In 1972, he formed a partnership with his sons, Perry and Kerwin, and was joined by two grandsons, Knud and Carl, in 2007. Glenn and Esther lived on the farm for 39 years before moving to Davenport. Glenn continued to farm until the fall of 2008.
Glenn was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Davenport. He became a voting member, a member of Lutheran Layman's League and served on various boards of the church and parochial school. He was member of and held offices in the Davenport Lions Club, the Nuckolls County Livestock Feeders Association, and Thayer County Farm Bureau. He was a member for 32 years of the Davenport American Legion Post. He loved God, his family and farming. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and Teddy bears and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, James Elting; two brothers: Vernon and Orval Elting; and two sisters: Edna Hadden and Leona Dunker.
He is survived by his wife, Esther, of Davenport; two sons, Perry and Kerwin Elting, rural Edgar; two daughters , Mrs. Bruce Freitag (Gina), Byron, and Mrs. Robert Crockett (Lisa) Omaha,; grandchildren, Knud and Stein Elting Mrs. Dan Sedlacek (Erika), Mrs. Matt Novosad (Brandi). Mrs. Robert Crockett (Lisa) and Alida Crockett; great-grandchildren, Ty and Luke Elting, Evan and Lila Sedlacek, Carl Elting and Theresa Elting, Carter and Tanner Novosad, Travis Freitag and Landon Freitag; and two brothers, Leonard Elting, Hebron, and Dwayne Elting Carleton; and one sister, Florence Muhar, Sterling, Colo.
His funeral was held Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Davenport. Pastor Timothy Prince officiated. Casket bearers were his grandchildren. Interment was in St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery with military graveside services by Davenport American Legion Post. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home was is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn E. Elting 84, Davenport, departed this life Wednesday (7/8/09) in Deshler. Born at Carleton, Neb., the son of Henry and Frieda (Lueders) Elting. He served in the U.S. Navy. Farmer.
Survived by his wife, Esther; sons, Perry, rural Edgar; Kerwin, rural Edgar; daughters, Gina Freitag, rural Byron; Lisa Crockett, Omaha; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Leonard, Hebron; Dwayne, rural Carleton; sister, Florence Muhar, rural Sterling, Colo.; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services 10 a.m. Monday (7/13/09) at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (7/12/09); and also one hour before the service. Interment: St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery in Davenport. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, in care of the family. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn Ernst Elting, son of Henry and Frieda (Lueders)
Elting, was born November 9,1924, at the family farm in rural Carleton, Nebraska. He passed away at Parkview Haven, Deshler, Nebraska, on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 29 days.
Glenn was baptized on November 16, 1924, by Reverend
H. Schabacker at Trinity Lutheran Church at Friedensau,
Nebraska. He grew up and attended 1st - 8th grades at North Friedensau School. He was confirmed on May 29, 1938, by Reverend Theodore Droegmueller at Trinity Lutheran Church, Friedensau, Nebraska, and his confirmation verse was John 15:9, "Abide in Christ." He graduated in 1942 from Carleton High School, Carleton, Nebraska.

(Bohling) of rural Edgar, Nebraska, and their children Erika (Elting) and husband Dan Sedlacek, and their children Evan and Lila, Carl Elting and Theresa Elting; a daughter, Gina (Elting) and husband Bruce Freitag, of rural Byron, Nebraska, and their children Brandi (Freitag) and husband
Matt Novosad, and their children Carter and Tanner, Travis
Freitag and Landon Freitag; and a daughter Lisa (Elting) and husband Robert Crockett of Omaha, Nebraska, and their daughter Alida; two brothers, Leonard Elting, of Hebron, Nebraska, and Dwayne Elting and wife, Beverly (Schlichtman) of rural Carleton, Nebraska; and one sister, Florence (Elting Mette) Muhar of rural Sterling, Colorado; one
brother-in-law, Lewis Duensing of Deshler, Nebraska; four sisters-in-law, Esther (Krueger) Elting of Deshler, Nebraska, Loriene (Duensing) Eitzmann, and Lola (Duensing) Eitzmann both of Byron, Nebraska, and Verna(Duensing) and husband James Lambert, of rural East Grand Forks, MN;
nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday July 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Davenport, NE with Pastor Timothy A, Prince officiating.
Organist was Karen Haake. Congregational hymns were "How
Great Thou Art", "I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry",
"Jerusalem The Golden", and "God Loved The World So That He
Gave". A special selection was sung by St. Peter's Choir: "You Are My All In All (with Fairest Lord Jesus)".
Casket bearers were the grandchildren.
Interment was in the St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery in Davenport, NE with military graveside services by Davenport American Legion Post #335.
Memorials in care of the family in lieu of flowers.
Hebron Memorial Funeral Home of Hebron, NE was in
charge of arrangements.
