- [S927] Obituary.
POCATELLO - Gerald Wayne Mosbrucker, age 66, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at his home following a sudden hospitalization and illness.
Gerald (Gerry) was born on March 10, 1946, on a Sunday afternoon to Doris and Albert Mosbrucker in Baker, Montana, and was raised in Bowman, North Dakota. In 1956, his family moved to Aberdeen where they enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting arrowheads out in the desert.
Gerald attended the Catholic Church and graduated from Aberdeen High as the class of 1964. Gerald attended ISU as a Liberal Arts major which fueled his passion for collecting rare and historical books.
Gerald served in the United States Navy in the sixties as a hospital Corpsman in Philadelphia. Gerry and Sandy met while working at Bucyrus-Erie. Gerald practiced many skills including maintenance and repair, house painting, inventory control, sales, and expediting. Some would call him "Mister Fix-it," as he has also worked for many years as a store engineer and a craftsman.
A collector of many things, Gerald's interests were diverse. He loved bowling, astronomy, collecting and enjoying comic books, camping and prospecting for gold, playing Solitaire on his computer, watching 'Criminal Minds' on TV, viewing classic videos, and studying plate tectonics, the Yellowstone Caldera, and the Bible as literature.
Gerald was managing the Habitat for Humanity's ReStore, 1802 N. Main, Pocatello. Gerald has been a great asset in growing the reach and capabilities of the ReStore, providing a place to buy and donate new and used building supplies.
A beloved member of the community, Gerald has always been a friend to those in need, taking care and time to be there for many. Whenever described, Gerald has always been known as perhaps one of the most considerate and caring men you could find. And he always had an inventive joke for you.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sandy Mosbrucker; his two daughters, Pam (Chris McElprang) and Debbie Mosbrucker (Dave Ellin); and sister, Sylvia Gunter and her three children and six grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Rosewood Reception Center on 1499 Bannock Highway, inside the Greenway Office Park, just two tenths of a mile from the Stinker Station, on Friday, September 7th, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Downard Funeral Home, 241 N. Grant in Pocatello, 233-0686.
In remembrance of Gerald, please make donations to the Habitat for Humanity. Condolences may also be sent to the Mosbrucker family at 1222 N. Grant, Pocatello, Idaho, 83204.
