Birth: Mar. 10, 1911 Wirt County West Virginia, USA Death: Jan. 7, 2009 Parkersburg Wood County West Virginia, USA Garland A. Lewis, 97, of Parkersburg passed away Jan. 7, 2009, at his residence. He was born March 10, 1911, in Wirt County, the son of the late Alonzo and Linnie Montgomery Lewis. Garland was a member of the Southeastern Evangelistic Association and attended Calvary Memorial Church. He retired from Walker/Parkersburg Co. as a welder after 40 years of service. Garland is survived by his wife, Hazel Houck Lewis of 73 years; four children, son, Paul D. Lewis (Vicky) of Parkersburg, and daughters, Carole Craig of Belpre, Margaret Yarrington of Kettering, Ohio, and Rebecca Lister (Skip) of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, Alex and Alan Craig, Jeff Lister, Karen Gabriel and Yeric Yarrington; seven great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Shirley and John Lewis; and three sisters, Nancy Parsons, Augusta Thompson and Flossie Webb. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen South Cemetery.
