Esther Rolena Guthmiller Birth: Mar. 18, 1915 Tripp Hutchinson County South Dakota, USA Death: Aug. 2, 2006 Tripp Hutchinson County South Dakota, USA Esther Rolena Guthmiller was born 8 miles southwest of Tripp, South Dakota on March 18, 1915 to Ludwig and Katharina (Hieb) Guthmiller. She was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed Faith. Esther completed the 8th grade at Rural Oak Hollow School District #70 in 1930. At the age of 20, Esther became ill with a dementia from which she never recovered. In 1945, she became a resident of the Redfield State Hospital and School. In 1978, Esther was transferred to the Wagner Good Samaritan Center and on March 26, 1996 she moved to the Tripp Good Samaritan Center. While confined to institutions most of her life, she participated in and enjoyed all of the activities as long as she was able. While in Wagner, she did a lot of embroidery, and helped in the laundry and dining room. Esther died at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the age of 91 years. Thankful for sharing her life is her sister, Louise Guthmiller of Tripp and 14 nieces and nephews. Preceding her are two sisters: Athalia Tesky and Bertha Buchholz and seven brothers: Solomon, Samuel, Emanuel, Konnie, Leo, Otta and Carl. Internment in Frieden's Reformed UCC Cemetery, Tripp, SD.
