Eloise Irene Weinheimer Burkhart passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at The Pines. She was born December 11, 1920 in Washington County to August and Marie Oesterle Weinheimer.
Eloise was a 1938 graduate of Marietta High school, a Marietta Business College graduate and worked 21 years at the Ohio State University Extension Office where she was actively involved in 4-H.
On September 17, 1962, Eloise married William J. Burkhart and worked beside him on the Burkhart truck farm and greenhouses until his death in 1986. After that time, Eloise enjoyed volunteering for 55 Plus at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Eloise was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and Widowed Persons Group.
Eloise is survived by her step-children, Carolyn Roberto (Anthony) of Summerfield, Florida, Joyce Ellis of Lake City, Florida, Mary Brandon (Robert) of Kent, Ohio, and Michael (Susan) Burkhart of Marietta; sister-in-law, Regina Weinheimer of Marietta, one nephew, John Weinheimer (Marty) of Grove City, Ohio; two nieces, Jane Miller (Roger) and Donna Moore (Vaughn), both of Marietta; and many step- grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, great nephews and great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William J. Burkhart, brother Lawrence Weinheimer, step-son Richard Burkhart (Judy) and step-daughter Marlene Casteel, all of Marietta.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Entombment will follow in East Lawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption Building Fund.
