  [S927] Obituary. Ellis Gaylord Keevert, 72, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017. He was born February 11, 1945 in Hutchinson, Kansas to the late Charles Howard Keevert and Esther Hayworth Keevert. He worked with the NC State Government in the Social Services Dept. Ellis honorably served his country in the US Navy. After retirement, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Smithfield and New Hanover County and with the NC Food Bank. Surviving: son, Eric Keevert and wife Billie Jo of Clayton; daughter, Amy Jones and husband Jason of Omaha, NE; grandson, Justin Keevert; step-granddaughters: Jordan and Mackenzie Liles; brothers: Gary Keevert of Enterprise, AL, Charles Keevert of Hutchinson, KS, Louis Keevert of Albany, OR; sister, Rita K. Cox of Springfield, MO. In addition to his parents, Ellis was preceded in death by brother, Clinton James Keevert; sister, Betty Leann Keevert Vietta. The family has asked that contributions be made in his memory to Meals On Wheels of Johnston County, 1363 W. Market St., Smithfield, NC 27577 or to your local Hospice Organization.
