  [S926] Find-A-Grave, (www.findagrave.com). Edwin Weeder Gerisch Birth: Mar. 18, 1917 Death: Feb. 23, 2004 Edwain W Gerisch, 86, Overbrook, died Monday, Feb 23, 2004, at an Overbrook nursing home. He was born March 18, 1917, at Richland, Kan., the son of Charles and Katherine (Sheetz) Gerisch. He attended Richland Grade School and graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka in 1935. Mr Gerisch enlisted in the United States Army in 1941 at the beginning of World War II. He attended Officers Cadet Training School at Fort Benning, Ga. He served as a first lieutenant with the 11th Airborne in the Pacific theatre until his discharge in 1945. After his military service, he engaged in farming with his brother Norman, until he retired in 1993. He was a member of Brown-Leonard-Woodward American Legion Post 391 of Richland, VFW Post No 1650 of Topeka and Ridgeway Lodge, No 62, AF & AM at Overbrook. He married Helen I Riley on June 9, 1947 at Lawrence. She survives at the home. Also surviving are one son, Riley E Gerisch of Overbrook; two grandsons; one great-grandson; one brother, Norman Gerisch, Overbrook; and one sister, Loretta Martin of Eudora. Funeral services were Thursday, Feb 26, 2004 at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. Burial followed in the Overbrook Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post No 1650 of Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Brown-Leonard-Woodward Post No 391 and sent to Greenwood-Robert Funeral Home, Box 268, Overbrook, Kansass 66524.
