SAN RAMON, Calif. - Dennis A .Schnabel, 62, of San Ramon, CA passed away on January 24, 2008.
He was born to Aaron and Olivia Stoebner Schnabel on November 18, 1945 where he grew up on the family farm near Menno, SD. Dennis graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1967 with a degree in music. He briefly taught at Southern State Teacher's College in Springfield, SD. In 1971 he moved to California where he was a pianist and organist for 36 years at St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Danville. He was also a concert pianist performing numerous recitals in the San Francisco Bay area.
He is survived by Sheila Holtgrieve, his long-time companion and friend, his mother Olivia of Menno, SD, three brothers Mylo (Brenda) of Sioux Falls, Delmar (Christine) of Newton, IA, and Milton of Menno, SD and one sister Sharon (Keith) Burns of Flandreau, SD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Aaron and sister-in-law Joyce (Eilmes) Schnabel.
Services are scheduled for Monday, January 28 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Danville, CA.
