  [S927] Obituary. Corbit P. Scarff, 93 of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Washington, PA died Sunday, October 27, 2013 in the Vincentian Home, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born October 15, 1920 in Braxton Co., WV, a son of the late Charles O. and Emma Handschumaker Scarff. Mr. Scarff was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving with Company A of the 302nd Infantry. He was involved in battles in Northern France and the Rhineland. For his service he was awarded the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Medal with two Campaign Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. For 45 years he worked as a truck driver for Gregg Inc. of Eighty Four, PA. He was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Washington, PA where he served as a Lay Minister, taught Bible study and Sunday School. He read the Bible everyday. Mr. Scarff was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and loved spending time with his family. On June 21, 1942 he married Thelma Fay Coneby Scarff who died September 30, 2010. Surviving are seven children, Bonnie R. Gilbert (Tom) of Canonsburg, PA, Phyllis F. Pritt (Jim) of New Salem, PA, Dana W. Scarff (Linda) of Eighty Four, PA, Denise E. Penberthy (Jim) of Surprise, AZ, Corliss L. Julian (Joseph) of Pittsburgh, PA, Gary R. Scarff (Barbara) of Bose, ID and Rhonda L. Scarff of Wexford, PA; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents and wife are a grandson, Brian K. Scarff; one brother, Dana Scarff; five sisters, Opal Franks, Agnes Decker, Annabel Quillen and Clarabel Seamen and Elizabeth Harmon. Mr. Scarff was the last of his immediate family. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, PA where services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Mark Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery, Scenery Hill, PA. Military Rites will be accorded graveside by the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post #705, Centerville.
