Cloyd Harper, 89, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on August 10, 2006. He was born on August 29, 1916, in Glendale, Arizona. Cloyd spent much of his youth in the rural area of Phoenix, near 40th Street and Camelback. As a youth during the depression Cloyd delivered the Arizona Republic newspaper and loved to tell the stories of collecting payments. He attended Phoenix Union High School where he learned the printing trade. After graduating high school he began his 42 year career as a printer. Cloyd's dedication and contributions to the printing industry earned him numerous awards and recognition. He was a member of the Printing House Craftsmen Club, served on the board of the Pacific Society Conference, Regional Development of the Longview neighborhood; Squaw Peak Senior Center Program, and the Nutrition Council of the City of Phoenix, and a Mason for over 62 years. Cloyd was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Velma Harper in 2002, a son Thomas Harper, and a sister Wilma Keokuk. He is survived by his children Byron (Cynthia) Harper, Cloydene (Orin Berry) Anderson, and daughter-in-law Jan Harper, as well as four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by, three brothers Karold (Gerry) Harper, Arlie (Phyllis) Harper, and Willis "Bud" (Rose) and his extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Camelback Church of Christ, 5225 E. Camelback Road, Phoenix on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10:30 AM.
