Brother of Perry, Paul, Richard, Howard, and Delores Lane. Husband of Clarice Margaret Broedel (married June 20, 1936, in St. Mary's, West Virginia). Father of Nancy Louise Lane. Grandfather of Pamela and Melissa Kegresse Was a laborer for over 50 years, and though with only an 8th grade education, he never failed to provide for his family or lend a hand to a brother or friend. As a teen, he worked in his father's saw mill, and from 1926 until his death, he was employed by the State of Ohio at the Ohio State Forestry Nursery in Reno, Ohio. He loved riding his little Harley Davidson motorcycle and being in his boat on the Ohio River with his pipe, a can of Prince Albert tobacco, and a fishing pole. In the summer, he earned extra money by selling catfish that he caught on a trot line that he stretched halfway across the Ohio River. In the winter, he and his brother, Dick, trapped muskrat and mink along the Little Muskingum River and sold their furs in the spring. Every year he grew a garden...with sweet potatoes and Irish potatoes being his pride and joy. Died at age 63 from complications of diabetes. Survivors include great granddaughters in North Carolina and a great grandson, Darren Scott Edwards, in Colorado.
