He was born Feb. 28, 1932 near Woodsfield, a son of the late Chester Roy Paulus and Geneva Polen Paulus. He was a former custodian for the Ohio State Department of Transportation in Monroe County, a member of the Euclid United Methodist Church, Zanesville and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are two daughters, Shelva (James) VanWest of Zanesville, Carol Paulus of Zanesville; two sons, Terry Paulus, Mark Paulus, both of Zanesville; a brother, David Paulus of Woodsfield; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Kahrig Paulus on Feb. 28, 1984; and a brother, William "Bill" Paulus. Friends were received June 28 at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where funeral and military services will be held June 29, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Middle Church Cemetery, near Lewisville.
