  [S927] Obituary. Carol V. Schnabel, 79, Huron, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral was held April 15 at the Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Brian Grover officiating. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Carol Harvey was born December 24, 1924, to Grover and Myrtle (Fawcett) Harvey in Ree Heights. She attended country school in the Ree Heights area. She married Leo R. Schnabel January 25, 1953, at Milwaukee, Wis. She worked for Wheeler Drug in Huron. When she and Leo started their family, she was a stay-at-home mom and also took care of her mother. In 1965, she started Schnabel Day Care Center. She operated the business for 33 years until her retirement in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Jim) Stahl; two sons, Bradley (Kim) Schnabel and Randy (Kerry) Schnabel, both of Huron; her special friend, Jabe Lorenz, Huron; her brother, Roy Harvey, Miller; three sisters, Edna Weidenbach of Missouri, Mable Blake of Pierre, and Ada Dittman of Gunnison, Colo.; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on August 22, 1983; her son, Jerold Schnabel, on March 14, 1981; four brothers, Clyde, Bill, Orrin and Kenny; and two sisters, Carrie Sodden and Nina Adams.
