Daughter of Michael GREIDENWEIS Jr. and of Maria Sibille STRAUB Greidenweis (both buried with no extant markers in the cemetery of St. Laurentius Catholic Church in Göcklingen bei Landau, Südliche Weinstraße, Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland) and wife of Carl Franz (later Charles) Augustus AFEMAN (buried in the same plot with her), with whom she had nine children.
In the 1850's, at the time of her immigration to Louisiana, the place of her birth belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria.

The Lotto party given at Mrs. Jacob Geiger's [in Alexandria, Louisiana] on Wednesday evening last, complimentary to Miss Natille Israel [Mrs. Geiger's younger first cousin], of Vidalia, was a most enjoyable affair. The nicest of refreshments were served. The following ladies and gentlemen were present: Misses Cleona Weil, Flora Levin, Mary Aaron, Mrs. Fannie Seiss, Mrs. Rosedale, Misses Sarah and Gertie Rosenthal, Misses Fannie Meyer, Augusta Warshauer, Carrie Weil, Mollie Goodlow, Mrs. Henry Genius, the Misses Phillips and Kramer, Misses Nora Christian, Belle Lewis, Laura Huie, Maggie and Judith Cruikshank, Fannie Afferman [a daughter of Mrs. Afeman], Augusta Weil, Mrs. Afferman [who was a maternal aunt of the hostess' husband], Mrs. Fluck [another daughter of Mrs. Afeman], Miss Esther Hirschman, Misses Mattie and Clara Cruikshank, from Bayou Rapides. -- The following gentlemen were present: Felix and Geo. Bauer, Sam Weil, Nathan Mayer and Sol Mayer, Sydney Schmalinski, Michael Aaron, Thomas Murphy, Peter Irving, Ben Rosenthal, Leon Weinburg, and Rollo Jarreau.

MRS. FRANCIS AFEMAN, BAYOU LAMORIE [sic]
Alexandria, La., July 31. ? Mrs. Francis [sic] Afeman, aged sixty-five years, wife of Charles Afeman, died at her residence on Bayou Lamorie [sic], in this parish, at 9:30 o'clock this morning. The deceased was an old resident of this parish and a highly respected lady. Besides her husband she leaves five daughters and two sons. Three of her daughters reside in this city. They are Mrs. A. Fluck, Mrs. J. G. White and Miss Mary Afeman [later the wife of Nicholas Dennis "Nick" O'Shee]. Mrs. George Simpson, another daughter, lives in New Orleans. Her remains will be brought here and interred in the Pineville cemetery to-morrow morning.
