Obituary
Patricia M. Kelley Strain, age 76, of Canton, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was born in Louisville, OH on February 9, 1934 to the late, Leon and Marie Hoover and was a 1952 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Patricia went on to earn her Nursing Degree from Mercy School of Nursing in 1955. She was employed as a Registered Nurse for many years, and was a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, and caring mother. She was a former member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and a current member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton. Patricia enjoyed traveling, sewing and playing cards. She had a wonderful sense of humor and managed to remain light-hearted even when challenged with adversity. There was nothing more important to her than the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she was greatly loved by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Neal F. Kelley Sr.; stepson, Chris Strain; granddaughter, Samantha Kilgore; and siblings, Catherine Teolis, Ronald Hoover, Richard Hoover and Laverne Hoover. Survivors include her husband, Christopher Strain; children, Susan Woods of Paola, KS, Jim Strain of Laurel, MD, Paula Kilgore of Canton, OH. Neal (Sue) Kelley of North Lawrence, OH, Bob Strain of Canton, OH, Mark (Ann) Kelley of Westerville, OH, Nancy (Larry) Boes of Gahanna, OH, and Laurie (Chris) Vogt of Hartville, OH; 12 grandchildren, Chris and Robbie Woods, Angelique Kelley Bucher, James Bishop, Eric Kilgore, Michael and Matthew Kelley, Phillip Strain, Katie and Daniel Vogt, Sarah and Adam Boes; four great grandchildren, Alex Kilgore, Shyanne Kirkpatrick, Savannah Bishop and Veronica Strain; siblings, Rita Mae Metzger, Eugene Hoover, Ken Hoover, Monica Eshelman and Joan Hoover. The family would like to thank the Plain Township Paramedics for all that they did. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am in St. Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6-8 pm in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to St. Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton.
