Raymond Neuharth

Raymond Neuharth, age 87, of 1225 Minnesota Ave. SW, Huron, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 18, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kevin Channell officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. A Memorial has been established. Raymond Neuharth was born on September 7, 1917, to Louie and Carolina (Bittner) Neuharth at Alpena, SD. He was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed faith. He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Alpena High School in 1936. On October 6, 1940, Raymond married Ardena Ochsner at the Reformed Church at Alpena. They farmed near Alpena for 56 years. During this time Raymond also drove the shuttle bus for many years at the South Dakota State Fair. On September 1, 2001, they moved into Huron, and in May of 2002, Raymond entered the Huron Nursing Home. Raymond was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Huron. He is survived by his wife, Ardena of Huron; 1 son, Larry (Keitha) Neuharth of Alpena, SD; 1 daughter, Darla (Jim) Wasson of Armour, SD; 4 grandchildren, Kristen (Dan) Jurgens, James (Summer) Wasson, Rob Wasson, and Ryan Wasson; 1 sister, Hilda (Orville) Kopfmann of Eden Prairie, MN; 1 brother, Adiel (Ida) Neuharth of Huron; 2 step-brothers, Calvin (Esther) Neuharth of Alpena, SD, and Reinhold (Viola) Neuharth of Eugene, OR; and 1 step-brother-in-law, Ken Parker of Woonsocket, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Emil Neuharth; 1 sister, Leah Bentz; 2 step-sisters, Leona Parker, and Ruth Jaeger; 2 sisters-in-law, Grace Neuharth, and Kathy Neuharth; 1 brother-in-law, Paul Bentz; and 1 step-brother-in-law, Wilbert Jaeger.
