Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:30 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Daniel "Danny" Louis Fabacher, Sr., 85, who died on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Lafayette. Reverend Gary Schexnayder will conduct the Memorial services. Survivors include the wife of his youth and mother of his children, Savannah Fournier Fabacher of Lafayette; long time friend, Loretta H. Karnik of Lafayette; three daughters, Donna F. Guidry and her husband, Perry of Lafayette; Mitzi F. LeBlanc of Baton Rouge and Rhonda F. Giles and her husband, Robert of Lafayette; two sons, Daniel L. Fabacher, Jr. and his wife, Myra of Lafayette and Barry J. Fabacher and his wife, Debbie of Lafayette; one brother, Robert J. Fabacher and his wife, Lucille of Lafayette; two sisters, Evette F. Doucet of Metairie and Kristi F. Larry of Alexandria; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alix Prejean Fabacher; one sister, Patsy F. Hewes and her husband, Tom Hewes; step brother, Jerry Fabacher. Daniel Louis Fabacher, Sr. was born on May 3, 1933 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard in November 1949, where he served 11 years, retiring in 1960 with the rank of Master Sargent E-7. He graduated from Cathedral High School in May of 1951 and began his career at RC Cola Company from 1951-1953. Mr. Fabacher worked for Life Insurance Company of Georgia beginning in 1953. He earned the Golden Cane Award in 1965, 1971, and 1977 and the top Golden Crown in 1975. He served as training assistant from 1960-1962, and as a Manager in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. He then returned to Lafayette as a staff Manager where he made Top President's Club for 13 years, and Honor Club for 11 years until his retirement in 1987. During his time in the insurance industry Mr. Fabacher served as Vice President of the Acadiana Association of Life Underwriters from 1965-1967 and served as President from 1967-1968. He served the State Association as a Regional Vice President from 1968-1972 and earned the National Quality Award 9 years and the NSAA Award 4 years. Mr. Fabacher earned a CLU Degree from American College of Bryn Maur, PA in 1968. He helped form and was a Charter Member of Acadiana Chapter of CLU's, where he served as Vice President in 1968 and President in 1969. Mr. Fabacher started work in youth sports in 1963 and became a director of Pony Baseball in 1974. He helped form Lafayette Youth Sports in 1975 and by 1976 had 250 parish Baseball teams affiliated with Pony Baseball. He became the Section Director in 1981 and was also named Regional Director. Mr. Fabacher was awarded the 1981 Bronco World Series which was held at Clark Field in Lafayette, Louisiana. In July 2000 the new baseball field on La Neuville Road was named Fabacher Field. Mr. Fabacher met and became life-time friends with Loretta H. Karnik on June 6, 1985. He worked as a real estate agent and real estate broker from 1987-1989. He retired from business and pony baseball in 1995 and started helping his children and grandchildren acquire their homes and rental properties. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brady Fabacher, Joey Guidry, Steven Doucet, Marcus LeBlanc, Matthew Fabacher, Senator Gerald Boudreaux and Greg Gautreaux.
