Subject: Eugene T. "Jake" Karst
Message: From the Huntington Herald Press Online, August 03, 1999 Eugene T. "Jake" Karst, 71, Fort Wayne, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday (Aug. 2, 1999) at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne. Mr. Karst was a maintenance superintendent for Bishop Dwenger High School, Fort Wayne, for 26 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Huntington. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by three brothers, Henry Karst of Kendallville, Norbert Karst of Huntington, and Raymond Karst of Fort Wayne; four sisters, Eileen Swoverland, Dolores Stoffel and Annette Morrow, all of Huntington, and Helen Ludwig, Fort Wayne. Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be conducted at noon Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Robert Fosselman officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Hospice or the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.

Eugene T. "Jake" Karst, Communications Technician 2nd Class, U.S. Navy, served during the first part of the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He had 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
