Eureka, SD–Funeral service for Milbert Trautman, 88, of Eureka will be 11:00 am, Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Carlsen Funeral Home in Eureka. The Rev. Gary Bergman will officiate.
Burial will be in Eureka City Cemetery with graveside military rites by Fred Weller American Legion Post #186.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:30 – 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Milbert died February 26, 2017 at Avera Eureka Health Care Center.
Milbert Trautman, son of Henry and Katherina (Feiock) Trautman was born August 1, 1928 at rural Eureka. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school until 8th grade. Milbert worked on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and after serving two years was honorably discharged in 1953.
He was united in marriage to Evangeline Lang on November 13, 1953 at the Lehr Baptist Parsonage by Pastor Herr at Lehr, ND. They started their lives on the Trautman homestead where they raised their family.
Milbert’s love was his family and he had a passion for his farm up to the very end.
Milbert is survived by one son, Dennis Trautman of Eureka; two daughters, Lucy (Larry) Bjerke of Watertown, SD and Glenda (Dan) Andera of Chamberlain, SD; two sisters, Irene Staiger of Jamestown, ND and Norma Weller of Eureka; five grandchildren, Nathan (Liza) Bjerke, Jason (Tanya) Bjerke, Jeremy (Sherri Fryer) Bjerke, Kristin (Tom) Barstad and Brady Andera and four great-grandchildren, Zach, Aiden, Carson and Caitlynn.
Milbert is preceded in death by his parents, wife (11-18-2012), four infant siblings, Henry, Amelia, Johnny, and Albert; brothers, Herbert, Ernest, Benny, and Mervin and three sisters, Alma Kirschman, Alyce Wolff and Esther Knoll also preceded him death.
