He was born February 6, 1912 at Tripp, SD, a son of Jacob and Magdalena (Hoff) Stoebner. He grew to manhood in the Tripp vicinity and on October 15, 1939 he was united in marriage to Katie Bindert at Tripp. He and his wife moved to a farm northwest of Gary in 1939 where they farmed until 1982. They moved into Gary in 1986. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary and he served on the church council for 25 years. He was a past chairman of the church council. He also served as a director of the Deuel County Farmer Union for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Katie of Gary; one brother, Eugene of Clear Lake; and three nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. Funeral services were held on January 20, 1991 at 2 PM in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary with the Rev. Bruce Mueller officiating.
