"FUNERAL SERVICES AT HOPEDALE FRIDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. W. H. McCormick will be held at St. Joseph Church in Hopedale, Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Father W. J. Burke officiating. Burial will be in the Griesemer cemetery. Clara M. Griesemer was born at Miltonsburg, Ohio, May 12 1867. Her death occurred at her late home northeast of Hopedale, Tuesday evening, January 24, at 9:40, aged 54 years, 8 months and 12 days. She came to Illinois with her parents in February, 1868 and in April of that year the family settled on the Griesemer homestead just north of Hopedale. Her education was received in the public schools of Hopedale. Later she taught the Brighton school for one year. She was much interested in Hopedale's social life and home talent entertainments, taking a leading part in this line of work.Her marriage to W.H. B. McCormick was on February 15, 1890. They started life on Mr. McCormick's farm three miles northeast of Hopedale. Their entire married life was spent on this place. During their long residence there they endeared themselves, not only to their neighbors, but to the entire community, of which they were an interested and active part.Throughout her life she was a devout and attentive member of the Catholic Church, receiving its final rites before her death. In departing, she leaves a devoted husband, two sisters, Mrs. George H. McMullen, of Hopedale, and Mrs. Peter Kumpf, of Pekin, and three brothers, John, Charles and Henry all of Hopedale."
