Kurch Doane, 67, a former Buffalo resident and a registered nurse, died Thursday (March 28, 1996) in Portsmouth (N.H.) Regional Hospital after an illness of several months. Mrs. Doane, a Buffalo native and resident of Portsmouth, was a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy in Buffalo and received her training to become a registered nurse at Sisters Hospital. Mrs. Doane worked for many years as a nurse at St. Vincent and Bellevue hospitals in New York City and worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center and Portsmouth Hospital before becoming a private-duty Hospice nurse 10 years ago. She lived in Portsmouth for 20 years. Survivors include a daughter, Helen "Mitzi" Doane-Arkulary of Duluth, Minn.; a son, Donald C. of Portsmouth; three sisters, Elizabeth Pontillo of Batavia, Joan Hector of Hamburg and Margaret Mirasola of Rochester, Minn.; and two grandchildren.
