Bio: William Aloysius Scott 91, of La Plata, MD died Oct. 24, 2006.Born in New York City on September 18th, 1915, he was the son of John Eckhardt Scott and Mary Fitzpatrick. He attended college on a full scholarship at the City College of New York and he played in a band during that time to earn spending money. During his formative years, he met his childhood sweetheart , Anne Hair, whom he subsequently married. At the time of his death they had been happily married for 67 years. After college he became a Federal Government employee where he rose through the ranks to become the Director of Civilian Personnel (auditors) Air Corps: Dept. of the Air Force. The last three years of his career were served at the Pentagon in the Defense Contract Audit Agency from which he retired on December 30, 1972."Bills" interests included playing piano/organ, bird watching and stocks and mutual funds. He was a voracious reader and was concerned with current events. He and his wife traveled to many countries including Italy, Germany, Switzerland , France, Austria, Mexico and Cuba. He was a past member and usher at St. Columba Catholic Church in Oxon Hill, MD and upon his relocation to La Plata joined the parish at Sacred Heart Church .He was especially proud of his family and some of the happiest times he experienced occurred during family gatherings or a "fracas" as he called them.He was also a past member of the Oxon Hill Democratic Club and until recently he enjoyed the activities offered at the Clark Senior Center until his health forced him to curtail his participation.He is survived by his wife Anne, sons William J. Scott of Rockville , MD, Robert M. Scott and daughter-in-law Thea Scott of Pomfret, MD and Brian J. Scott and daughter in-law Karen Scott of Waldorf, MD. Grandchildren include Matt Scott, Tracey Jones, Jason Scott, Lindsey Scott, Jennifer Heaslip and Kevin Scott. Great grandchildren numbered 4: Benjamin, Samuel and William Jones and Ian Scott.
