Cora was born on May 8, 1930, in Rawlins, Wyo., to Ona and Carl Olson. She spent many of her childhood years in Florida with relatives. She and her sister moved to Billings, where she met and married Benny Kuntz; they had five children. Later she met Herman Thaut and they had a daughter. Herman and Cora farmed in Shepherd, Mont., for many years, where they raised the family. Cora was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed sewing, canning and her beautiful yard. She was known for her roses, her home cooked meals and her baked goods. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed finding bargains at garage sales, going for car rides and watching the flowers bloom. Cora is survived by her husband Herman Thaut; her sister Elsie of Florida; and her children Raymond (Donna) Kuntz, Karen Kuntz, Jeanette (Dave) Steiner, Steve (Kathy) Kuntz, and Kim (Larry) Coomber, all from the Billings area. She will be remembered by her twelve grandchildren and their spouses; and her thirteen great grand children. She will also be missed by many others, including, Carol DeVries and Lori Ruttenber. She was preceded in death by her two sisters Lucille and Ruthie; and her daughter and son-in-law Patty and Paul Bonzer. Mom, we will truly miss you and always love you. Visitations will begin Tuesday morning at Smith Downtown Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shepherd with interment at the Shepherd Cemetery.
