A bit of history passed on February 24th, 2020, as did this wonderful mother, wife, grandma, friend and mentor: Ann M. Kuntz. Born November 11th, 1924 to Michael and Rosa Reichert Roll. Rosa was born in Odessa, Russia and married Michael Roll on November 11, 1919. Mr. Roll passed in 1972 and Rosa in May,1979. Ann was one of their 8 daughters and 6 sons, along with 51 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Only 2 siblings survive: Viola Dauenhauer and Delores Lee (Marlin) Schneider. Ann married John J. Dauenhauer in 1941, who passed in 1981. Survivors include: LaVonne (Richard, deceased 7-19) Bailey of Rochester, WA; Larry Dauenhauer of Billings; Rose Hedrick of Billings; Stanley Dauenhauer of Billings; Randy (Shirley McGee) Dauenhauer of Billings; preceded in death by Robert Dauenhauer of Spokane, WA, and Timothy Dauenhauer of Livingston. There are now 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren: LaVonne Bailey (3); Robin (Doug) Goodwin(5); Candace (Brian) Sallee, Travis (Kambra) Brotherson (2); Riley and Blakely (Ann?s great-great-grandchildren), Eli, Alyssa and Seth Goodwin; Price (Melodee) Bailey (3); Aston, Slade and Connor Bailey; Bryan (Tammy) Bailey (1) Jordan Bailey; Larry Dauenhauer (2) Dana (1); Devan, Larry Chris (Jenn) Dauenhauer (2); Ashley and Joshua Dauenhauer; Rose Hedrick (1); Trent (Jeanine) Schlauch; Stanley Dauenhauer (2); Anna McGinnis, Jennifer Bowling (Jay Niccum)(3); Gregory Bowling, Serenity and James Kelly; Timothy Dauenhauer (1) John Horton (1); Hadley Horton; Randy Dauenhauer (2); Illamarie ?Freddie? (Austin) Bennett (3); Salem, Coram and Parousia Bennett, and John Dauenhauer. Ann married Bennie R Kuntz (passed away 3-1998) on August 16, 1968 and brought into the family: Raymond (Donna) Kunzt of Billings; Karen Kuntz of Billings; Steven (Kathy) Kuntz of Shepherd, Jeanette (Dave ? deceased) Steine of Shepherd; Patricia (Paul) Bonzer ? both deceased. Ann and Bennie had 30 years of fun gardening together, playing Pinochle and LOVED to fish ? always with a challenge of who could catch the biggest (Ann usually won), but Bennie won in the storytelling. The smiles and laughter they created will live on forever. Ann was a home-maker with many talents: Special is that was a ?Rosie the Riveter? foreman on the WWII ships in San Franscisco, housekeeper, ceramics, crochet, knitting, German cooking, ran concession stands and drove farm equipment as her Dad?s right-hand man; most notable were her incredible rose gardens ? one still awes passerby?s. Precious to her was her Angel collection (all varieties) which she has been sharing with family and friends. She was a member of St. Pius X Parish for over 55 years. Loved dancing to polka and waltz music; Christmas was her favorite time of year ? she loved to decorate, wrap and give gifts, reminding everyone of its true meaning. The ways she touched hearts can never be erased. Being a ?Roll Girl?, there is a saying: ?Those roll girls just keep rolling? and that?s what she did. Ann fought hard to the very end, never losing her sense of humor nor her strength in character. The life she lived will always be remembered. Services will be held Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at 11:00 AM Smith West Funeral Chapel, 304 34th St West in Billings. Burial and Reception on the Chapel grounds will be held immediately following her Celebration of Life. Condolences for the family may be shared at smithfuneralchapels.com.
