Bio: Gerald P. ?Jerry? Frohlich Sr., 68, Mandan, died on July 4, 2009, surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, July 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Rev. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant. Burial was at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW Post 707 and American Legion Post 40.Jerry was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Mandan, to Fred P. and Barbara (Rothschiller) Frohlich. On his 18th birthday, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army with a friend as a part of the buddy system, and proudly served for three years.On May 25, 1963, he married Anita Rowley in Mandan. He worked at various jobs until starting at Coal Creek Station as a warehouse supervisor, retiring in 1997.Those who knew Jerry will remember him as social and outgoing with a love for life and a great sense of humor. With an interesting collection of hats, Jerry would show them off and entertain his family. A keen sense of artistic expression and appreciation of the natural beauty of wood grain, Jerry had a special talent for wood carving, giving many of his creations to friends and family. A fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, Jerry enjoyed supporting his teams. Fishing and camping with family and friends leaves many special memories. Jerry and Nita, along with friends Bob and Nancy Bird, spent time traveling throughout the U.S. Jerry will be remembered by so many who knew and loved him.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Linda Frohlich; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Johnson.
