LYDIA SHOUDEL DIES AT AGE OF 87Mrs. Lydia Jane Shoudel, age 87, a resident of Auburn for many years, died Saturday at 5 a.m. in Sacred Heart hospital at Garrett.Mrs. Shoudel had resided for the past eight years with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Sithen of 1100 South Randolph street, Garrett. Mr. and Mrs. Sithen had gone to visit their daughter, Mrs. Graham Tevis, and family at Madison, Ind., for the Christmas holiday and Mrs. Shoudel went to stay with her grandson, K. P. Sithen, and family at 1110 South Cowen street, Garrett. Mrs. Shoudel was attempting to get out of bed Friday at 4:30 p.m. and she fell and broke her left arm. She was taken to the hospital but the shock and old age caused her death.The body was removed to the Dilgard and Cline funeral home in Auburn, where final rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Allen K. Trout of St. Mark's Lutheran church, of which Mrs. Shoudel was a member, will officiate and burial will follow in Woodlawn cemetery, near Auburn.Mrs. Shoudel was born Feb. 9, 1865 in Jackson township, south of auburn. She and John Shoudel were married Jan. 22, 1884. He was an employee of the Auburn Foundry, Inc., for many years until his death in 1936.Surviving besides the daughter in Garrett are another daughter, Mrs. Earl Eberhard of Angola; two sons, Arthur Shoudel of 214 East Eighteenth street in Auburn and William Shoudel of 519 1/2 East Seventh street, Auburn; one sister, Mrs. Tillie Walters of near Jackson Center, south of Auburn, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
