Obituary for Richard Colfax Burke
Richard Colfax Burke, 83, husband of Virginia ?Jenny? Risk Burke for 64 years died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at his home. A native of Scott County, he was the son of the late Albert & Fannie Lou Willhoite Burke and was a W.W. II Navy Veteran. He retired from Kentucky Utilities Co. in 1987 after 38 years of service and was a member of the First Christian Church, the Scott Post #24, American Legion and the Donald Martin Post # 7054, VFW.
Other survivors include a daughter: Rose Marie (Thomas) Whitaker, Lexington and a son: Mark Burke, Georgetown, grandchildren: Jessica True, Tiffany Burke, Melissa (Jacob) Rodriguez, Martina (George) Padilla, Vanessa Whitaker and Julian Ray Burke, his great-grandchildren: Marcus Burke, Christain & Andrue Turner and Taylor Johnston; a daughter-in-law: Sue Burke, a brother: David (Martha) Burke and several nieces, nephews & cousins. A son, Richard Burke, II preceded his in death.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Johnson?s Funeral Home by Rev. Scott Cox and Rev. Richard Weekley. Burial will be in Crestlawn Cemetery with Military rites. Casket bearers will be: Kenneth Grant, Jr., Jimmy Richardson, Scott, John & Matthew Burke, Mike Traylor, Johnny Barnes and Bob Earl Alsop. Visitation will be 5?8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
