Bio: Obituary Bismarck Tribune (Dec 04, 2000)Melvin Leingang, 45, 1702 Third Street N.E., Mandan, died Dec. 4, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan and continues there on Thursday until the time of service. A parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the church.Melvin S. Leingang, 45, surrendered his pain of cancer on Dec. 4, 2000 at Medcenter One. Through his strong faith he has received eternal life with our Lord and savior. Melvin graduated in 1972 from Mandan High School. Early in his life he had worked part-time as a sportswriter for the Mandan Morning Pioneer. On April 30, 1976, he married Billie Jane Makelke in Mandan. Mel went on to work for Baukol-Noonan as a heavy equipment operator for a few years. Mel worked for Tierney Chevrolet now Puklich Chevrolet for 13 years, while working at Puklich Chevrolet, he attended night school at BSC and in 1984, he received his associates of arts degree. Mel continued his education through the University of Mary and received his Bachelors of Accounting in 1989. Also, in 1989, Mel passed the complete Certified Public Accounting test the first try. In 1993, Mel received his Masters Degree in Business from UND. Mel started working in 1989 for Q & R Clinic, now Medcenter One Health Systems through the present. He held various positions and loved the challenge each one presented. His final position as Director of Business Operations brought him such joy because of being in contact with so many fellow employees.Mel's other commitments throughout his years were, teaching evening sessions for adult learning at the University of Mary, Gods Child Project and Toastmasters, volunteering at St. Joseph School and worked on the pre-marriage program for eight years.Mel was proud to be a member of Certified Public Accountants of North Dakota, N.M.A., National Management Association, A.L.C.P.A., American Institute of Certified Public Accounting and I.M.A., Institute of Management accounting.Information provided by FindAGrave contributor Nancy at KNDKritters.
